Tips for Getting Started:

Model it: Start by putting into practice some of the steps you want your child to learn. If you haven’t already you may want to check out Dave Ramsey’s Class, Financial Peace University.

Teach it: Help you child divide up their allowance or spending money into envelopes, jars or a bank divided into give, save, spend categories.*

  • Help your child distinguish between needs versus wants.
  • Use allowance or a commission.
  • Let them make mistakes.
  • Teach them patience....let them save up to purchase something.
  • Help them to make goals.
  • Teach them to share.

Tina Gilbreath

Tina Gilbreath, her husband Todd, and her 4 children Wil, Annie, Adam & Charlie have been members at Valley Presbyterian church since 2005.  Originally from Tucson, she is a Wildcat through and through and received her BS in 1988 and BA in 1997 at the University of Arizona. She also received her master’s degree in education in 1995. Before staying at home with her kids she taught middle school and led teacher training and staff development at both the district and university levels.

She felt God calling her into ministry at VPC in 2007, and since then has enjoyed working with the children, families, and volunteers at VPC to create dynamic children’s ministry programs and events. As Director of Family Ministries, she relishes helping families nurture the faith of their children, a passion for her. When not having fun hiking, traveling, or hanging out with her family she enjoys reading, painting, and crafting.
